Human feces have become the sole source of energy in a city where nature has dried up and died. In order to accumulate this valuable resource, the government distributes “HARD,” which contains an addictive, hallucinatory ingredient that encourages bowel movement. As a result of these HARDs, a small gang of people loses control of their bowels and is expelled from the city for being unproductive members of society. When the residents of the crime-ridden 4th district, Aachi and Ssipak, run into “Ippunyi,” they embark on a reluctant adventure.
[AACHI & SSIPAK] sparked controversy for rejecting the naturalistic quality and nostalgia of mainstream animation in South Korea and adopting a vulgar and aggressive no-holds-barred attitude. An insolent and daring animation armed with rough language and a free spirit.

Joe Bum Jin is a graduate of Chung-Ang University and the chair of JTEAM Studios. He received critical attention for his 1997 animation [up&down Story], which won the festival award at the Seoul International Cartoon Animation Festival. Jo, who received funding for [AACHI & SSIPAK], after showing just one page of the visual art and synopsis, has been invited to show the film at various film festivals, including the Buchon International Fantasy Film Festival, the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival, and the Tokyo International Fantastic Film Festival. It took seven years to complete [AACHI & SSIPAK].
